Firm HistoryAs one of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area's oldest and largest certified public accounting and business advisory firms, Snyder Cohn prides itself as a family-run firm with a rich history of building close, personal relationships that help businesses grow and prosper. With the CPA profession in its infancy in the late 1920s, a 22-year-old David E. Snyder had the perseverance and determination to build an accounting firm that has enjoyed constant growth for over 75 years. Beginning with a handful of friends and relatives as clients and working for a mere $5 a week, David Snyder established roots in providing accounting services to local small businesses. Eventually, the firm began serving larger business and representing diverse industries, as more professionals and partners joined the Snyder Cohn family. "Looking back, it was a very fine organization," said David Snyder. "With each new client, I made it a point to really take an interest in his business. I met frequently with clients to review their financial condition and discuss banking needs for the present and help plan for the future growth." Stanley and Eddie Snyder followed in their father's footsteps as accountants and business leaders. Stepping into their father's role, they have steered the firm with the same mission of earning client trust and confidence. Today, Snyder Cohn has responded to evolving client needs by building a team of experts in five core practices including: accounting and auditing services, medical practice services, management advisory services, tax service, and retirement and pension plan services. "My father built this firm on the premise of providing the highest quality service in a professional yet, decidedly warm and caring atmosphere," says Edward Snyder, managing partner. This client-focused tradition has held strong at Snyder Cohn, where accounting continues to mean more than just numbers. |
